What's the sound of a feeling? The answer is the epitome of the songs that Jessica McLean gives life to. The lyrical content and sweet essence that Jessica lends to each and every composition emanates from the story of her young years. The human soul longs for things higher, warmer and purer and the gift that Jessica gives from the stage and on disc provide fuel for this need. While seeking the where's and why's of life, Jessica found plain truths to difficult questions and has intertwined the answers in verse.
Born in Hampton, VA, her father struggled with substance abuse. This offered much struggle during Jessica’s early years, a position that she continually writes lyrical content from. As a teenager, Jessica turned to a personal relationship with Jesus, bringing hope and purpose to her life. She now resides in the coastal town of Kitty Hawk, NC and is married to Nic McLean, director of numerous evangelical surf films, including"Noah's Arc" and “Walking on Water.” McLean’s films have had the privilege of premiering, with over 200,000 people in live attendance, across the United States and in over 20 different countries around the world.
Jessica's debut album Designed to Dream (2006) successfully launched her into the Christian music industry, allowing her to share the stage with bands such as the Newsboys, David Crowder Band and Sanctus Real. With influences such as "Jewel" and "Bethany Dillon", her collection of songs features rich and elegant vocals laced with personal pieces from her dreams and life ambitions. She has been featured in publications including Christianity Today and Today’s Christian Woman. Jessica has garnered much attention in the media breaking barriers as an independent artist .
Creation Melody (2009) is sure to please fans with McLean’s signature vocal delivery combined with an infusion of bluegrass and country instrumentation. With deep rooted reflection and heartfelt emotion, the four tracks reveal a maturity in McLean’s compositions. The songwriting, inspired by personal trials of a close friend’s death and a loved ones struggle with addiction, reveals her sensitivity to life’s hardships while maintaining an optimistic perspective to “look up, open your eyes, and realize, today’s a brand new day.” Creation Melody is a collection of songs that span all emotions.
